Here are the most common reasons why the 2FA code from your authenticator is being rejected and how to fix them.
2FA device clock is out of sync
The most common cause of 2FA issue is when your device is out of sync with the reference time called Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
To fix this, go to your device's Date & Time settings and ensure "Set automatically" is toggled to ON.
2FA code is expired upon entry
The code that your authenticator generates is only valid for 30 seconds. Make sure that upon your entry the code is still within that 30 seconds. To avoid this issue, make sure to input the code as soon as it is generated.
Multiple account confusion
If you have multiple account in our platform, make sure that your are inputting the correct 2FA code associated to the account you are trying to login.
Adding spaces in the 2FA input
Some authenticators adds a space when displaying 2FA code, these spaces are not part of the code and are only added to make them easier to read. 2FA codes are only 6 digits and only contains numbers.
Bonus Tip: Try another device
If you have tried all the steps above and your 2FA is still being rejected, you can also try logging in using another device. If you’re able to log in on a different device, it’s a sign that your first device’s internal clock is likely out of sync.
Hopefully that this guide was able to fix your 2FA code issue.
